sorry guys, i realize it’s been a while. i shouldnt even be on this because i have to write a 12-15 paper on Israeli-US relations but i felt that updating this would be a more productive break than the other ones i’ve taken the past week.

the stats that are often overlooked and underrated are jump and speed. though it doesnt affect damage range, it helps you deal the most damage in a efficient manner. as far as i know, i’m the only bowman who enjoys haste like conditions in aqua. i’ve designed my skill build to optimize both speed and jump because i think mobility (or lack thereof) is the reason why people quit their archers.

you cant deny it. you envy the mage’s teleport and the hermits flash jump/haste. why? because they can cover a lot more ground than you could ever dream of (walking down that long corridor in orbis for ships comes to mind. i hate how hermits fj and mages tele. right past me and i end up missing the boat ;-;). the reason why many people find bowman to be weak is because of our lack of mobility and HP. there’s not much you can do about HP, but with a proper build and insightful planning, haste is easily attainable for most bowman. people do acknowledge speed at times, particularly when buying a weapon, but i dont think it receives enough credit when it comes to aiding the damage process.

i know many people do not have access to nxcash and that many people think it’s pointless paying for anything in this game, but 2xp, charms, and pet make things so much easier for something somebody spends so much time on. i guess what i’m getting at is the importance of a pet, well, the pet items. i’m the kind of person who wants to maximize every second of training (especially during 2xp), and a pet helps in numerous ways. the item that is scrollable is a free 7-14 speed/jump. in the past i’ve scrolled 6 speed and 12 speed kargo wings, and boy was the difference noticeable when i switched over. thrust allows many bowman to scroll their pet for jump instead, giving them the illusion of haste (this is what i do). the capability of looting also saves tons of time for obvious reasons. after all, who wants to be spamming the __ button when they could be killing another goby house in the same amount of time?

anyways i’ll show you guys how i managed to basically obtain haste.
24 speed (12 thrust) + 3 speed (overall) + 2 speed (shoe) + 11 speed (casa) = 138% speed
16 jump (shoes) = 116% jump
this is without a scrolled pet item. i would only need 3 60% pet jump and 1 60% pet speed to achieve basic haste.

anyways i think i’m going to go back to my paper.

okay, i’ll admit it. i’m half a stat whore. i love being able to do a lot of damage and am eager to see how i compare with others like myself. it was always about how much dex, strength, and weapon attack i had. yet while looking at maplestory and the bowman class, i realize that these are not nearly as important as the ones i’m about to bring up.

with 4th job on the distant horizon, i realized that dex and strength are not important. the most important stat in my opinion has changed to one’s level. though level’s can be achieved easier now with double experience, this is by far the most difficult stat to raise. with gachapon and the new card game, it’s easier for people who focus on dex and strength to upgrade by using their not-so-free mesos to mass scroll items. thankfully (though i often complain and whine for one), there is no cash shop item equivalent to pokemon’s rare candy. levels determine skill points, and any level above 120 gets you that much closer to maxing your new skill (assuming you find the skill books…)

as some of you may know, there are threads in the sleepywood.net’s bowman section comparing the normal stats (dex/strength/weapon attack). i admit that i used to be really into that, that i’d spend a lot of time marketing only to break things in an attempt to climb higher on the lists. but then i realized, if i scroll a 130/7 casa, i still have to work for my levels. sure it may shave a shot or two off a goby house, but it’s still going to take a lot of time to work for that next level.

i’ve never really kept track of the total time it took me to reach level 134.8, and i know that number wouldnt be pretty. but here’s my advice to all aspiring bowman out there. it’s hard to be “godly” because there is always going to be someone out there with a piece of equipment better than yours. though dex, strength, and weapon attack are important (no matter what, it’s still fairly important to me), none of these stats can compare to levels. what’s the use in being the godliest archer, but only level 90? what are you going to do when 4th job comes out?

my advice? double experience. yes, i know some dont have access to nexon cash and my heart goes out to those without that luxury, but to be blunt, double experience is worth it. Three hours of work at minimum wage in California can save you dozens of hours of life if you’re willing to put aside 4 hours a day/weekend to leveling up your character. with that three hours of work, that’s a potential 28 hours saved every week if you maximize your double experience. come on, three hours versus a potential 112 hours saved. now i’m not saying throw your lives away for double experience, because i do not believe in social suicide, but that $20 can save you a lot of time, even if you only use half of your double experience.

this game consumes enough time as it is. if you’re going to put a lot of time into this game, it might as well be into the endless mindless grinding that this game entails, not free marketing and breaking equips. with or without double experience, you will be furthering your goal towards 3rd and 4th job.

*side note* ~ charms are a life saver, especially when you climb up into 10x+.
1 hour of work = $7.50
1 hour of training = 10% (or less…or much less)
70 cents > 10%/1 hour of your life.
$7.50 saves a potential 10+ hours of life.

anyways i’ll probably talk about the stat that people overlook the most, which is ranked right after levels in my opinion in my next entry. until then…

i guess it’s better late than never.

i planned on starting a wordpress back when i hit level 130, which was back in july. why i didnt? i suppose i was hesitant, questioning why i wanted to blog about the life of a sniper. i admit, this project would have been best if it had started the day oMS came out, the day LordUhai came into existence – but how was i supposed to know i’d end up here?

to be honest, i never expected to be where i am today in maplestory. i remember back in the beta days, it took an eternity to hit level 36 on a page, yet somehow over the course of nearly three years, i’ve mustered 134 long levels in this seemingly endless game. maplestory was my second online game, and i never figured i could be the one who could help others, to be at that level where my opinion could be respected among people i’ve never met in real life. yet through making my level 120& 130 videos, i’ve realized that there isnt a lot sniper influence in the oMS community, and a short video and little advice can go a long way. there’s only so much you can post on sleepywood, so much you can tell people ingame, and i feel that wordpress is a good place to turn all the information and experience i’ve passed along into a permanent source.

so let me be crystal clear. i am not doing this for personal glory. you wont see many posts based on LordUhai, but rather things i’ve seen and experienced from a sniper’s perspective that others could benefit from. so come here expecting to see more insight into the sniper class (i.e. personal thoughts on skills) and less about my typical day (i.e. today i went to zakum. it was great).

for some reason, i’m almost excited about this. this will be the guide i’ve always wanted to write, the insight i’ve always wanted to pass along. i’ve always felt that guides were just huge projects that needed to be complete before submitted. with wordpress, i can write whatever i want as events unfold, as times change.

i’m still trying to figure out how wordpress functions, so excuse the lack of content. anyways, i’m out xd

Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of LordUhai, which seeks to accomplish two things: to encourage the bowmen and Christian community.

Here you will find the thoughts of a seasoned marksman and a redeemed Christian. My Maplestory days are most likely behind me, but my walk with Christ will endure for an eternity by His grace. The posts here express my thoughts of the pixelated and real world and pieces of my experience are scattered everywhere.

If you are looking for marksmen reflections, you'll need to look at posts prior to 2009. You will find helpful tools on the different pages located toward the top of the screen such as a quest guide and my skill build. The posts tend to be Christ-centered post-2008.

If you are a gamer, believer or not, who has questions or is curious about Christianity or what you read here, feel free to contact me via AIM @ aunttonyx3 or send me a message on youtube. The opposite is true as well; if you have any questions about bowmen, in particular, marksmen, shoot me a message.
